Purushottam, also known as Porus, is a police trainee who wants to join the Indian Police Service (IPS). He was born into a middle-class family that also included his mother, sister Dwaraka, and father. Their joy, however, is short-lived because Dwaraka is abducted by powerful industrialist Nedunchezhiyan's brother Elanchezhiyan, also known as Ela, but she manages to escape, and Nedunchezhiyan and Ela kill her because she saw the murder of a social activist named Parishuddam when he started a protest against his factory, which destroyed a prosperous village.
Guna, the brother of a Selvam, a local don, is accused of killing Dwaraka. When Porus learns that Guna was murdered in a prison, he decides to look into the matter on his own and discovers a number of gruesome killings that were carried out by Nedunchezhiyan and his gang. When Ela planned to kidnap Divya, Porus discovers that he actually took Dwaraka instead. When Nedunchezhiyan's men become aware of this, they attack Divya. Porus comes just in time and beats up the thugs, but he was unable to save Divya. However, a tape of Dwaraka's confession to the murder was sent to Porus's friend Faizal, who was killed by Nedunchezhiyan's gang, and he kept it on his phone.
When Porus orders a hacker to look through Faizal's phone, the hacker hands Porus the recording and tells him about Parishuddam's murder. Nedunchezhiyan kidnaps Porus's father after learning about it from one of his goons and threatens to kill him unless Porus gives him the recording. Porus brings the video of him being beaten by the gang. Ela is also killed by Porus as part of his retaliation against the gang. Porus takes Selvam to a location where he orders him to avenge Guna's death. When Selvam uses a chainsaw to kill Nedunchezhiyan, Porus finally quits the factory with his father and is chosen for the IPS.
